Measuring Sodium Levels for Food Applications with a HANNA meter

HANNA meters have become increasingly popular with regard to food applications, especially when testing the sodium levels in certain foods.

Salt is analyzed via NaCl and by a direct sodium analysis, which can be done by using a HANNA Instruments FC300B electrode and a bench meter that can accommodate an ISE and perform pH determination. A great example of a meter that can do just that is the HI 4222.  Simply calibrate the sodium electrode with two standards and then conduct a direct reading of their sample.

Norpaco Gourmet Foods, a leading manufacturer of Italian style specialty food and a HANNA customer, produces products such as stuffed peppers, meats and cheese rolls. Sodium and pH analysis are important parameters for them in maintaining specific quality standards.
