Titrant for Titratable Acidity in Wine Mini Titrator

The HI84502-50 is a 230 mL bottle of alkaline titrant solution that is used for low and high range determinations of acidity in wine. The HI84502 mini titrator is designed to determine the acidity of wine by potentiometric titration in both a low range (0.1 to 5.0 g/L of tartaric acid) and high range (4.0 to 25.0 g/L of tartaric acid). Total acidity for both ranges is measured on a degassed sample of wine to a fixed endpoint of pH 8.20.

Total acidity, also referred to as titratable acidity, is the sum of the fixed and volatile acids. In the United States, the total acidity of wine is usually expressed in terms of tartaric acid, even though the other acids are measured.
